Cochituate MA Meet - July 22nd 2006 By special correspondent George Bilgewater Jim M finally caught a break from the weather gods after having his last 3 meets washed out! Lake Cochituate State Park in Wayland MA is a new venue for the Yankee Chapter and was FANTASTIC! Sporting the largest boat ramp ever seen, a great beach and lots of places to explore, the meet was a success. Many thanks to Ron Mogavero for doing initial legwork and pre-planning for the meet. About 25 members showed up, many with boats. See in the pictures below an Evinrude Mate, many Mercs, '58 Evinrude (Fisherman?) and more! Tom M. ran two row boat motors at the meet; an 1913 Evinrude and a Caille. Each were reported to run almost as well as a Scott 22 but were not quite as easy to start. (see Webster MA 2006 for the whole story) In Tom's own words "I need to run the ’13 Evinrude more, it’s the most dependable motor I have". The really big news was Deb R's newly restored boat - WOW! You will recall seeing this same boat earlier this year at the Charlton, MA 2006 meet in "as found" condition. To have restored this boat in just a few months must have been a total family effort. Deb's and her husband Carl did one heck of a job, it really looks great.
Thanks to Frank P. and Eamon C. for the photos.
